What is also interesting is that the composition slightly changes between one lens and the other even when set to the same focal length. I used a tripod to take all my images and I can assure you that I didn’t move it between shots.
The Lumix 7-14mm proves an excellent competitor despite being a much older lens.
There isn’t a drastic difference concerning sharpness. The differences in perspective distortion are a question of taste. I would say that the Olympus lens can be a better choice for precise architectural compositions while I could recommend the Lumix version for landscapes. The M.Zuiko version has the obvious advantage of having a faster aperture, which can make all the difference on a m4/3s camera, especially when shooting indoors. It is also more versatile thanks to its closer focusing and bokeh capabilities and has a better resistance to flare.
It really comes down to the individual photographer’s needs. One thing to consider is that the retail price isn’t that different. However, since the Lumix 7-14mm is older, you can probably find it at a better price or second-hand.
