캐논이특허를계속보여주고있네요..캐논이무슨생각을갖고있을지는모르겠지만..
쨌든 캐논에서도뭔가제대로나왔으면좋겠네요..경쟁이되어야소비자가즐거우니까요..

Patent: Multi Level Sensor With Photo-Luminescent Component
Northlight Images has uncovered another multi layer sensor patent from the USPTO. This one seems to show a layer of the sensor that actually emits light.
Northlight translation of the image above:
Light comes in through a conventional colour filter and reaches the first conversion layer, where some of it is converted to electrons. Some light goes clean through and reaches a PL (photo-luminescent) layer where some is absorbed and re-emitted (at a different colour). This re-emitted light is detected by a second conversion layer.
OK, so I’ve got two output signals for each pixel – what advantage does this give? By careful choice of the compounds used (organic and inorganic) for photon detection and photon emission layers it is possible to significantly increase the dynamic range of the pixel as a whole.

Patent: Organic Image Sensor Ideas
Canon continues to provide R&D resources into organic image sensors. Panasonic and Fujifilm are also putting resources into this technology and may actually be ahead of Canon with working examples of organic sensors.
Canon News breaks down Japan Patent Application 2018-011037:
This patent application deals with the thermal noise at the time of reset, and when that is improves has the effect of improving dynamic range by increasing the efficiency of conversion.
Organic sensors could very well be the “next big thing” to hit ILC’s as most our cameras have entered into diminishing returns for improvements.
The good news with all of these new sensor patent applications is I’m actually starting to understand them. My culinary background hasn’t been a great tool in that regard.

Patent: Stacked Sensor Patents Continue to Stack Up
Canon continues to apply for patents for stacked sensors. With the number that we’ve seen over the last few months, I think it’s safe to say something is coming in the not-so-distant-future.
Canon News breaks down Japan Patent Application 2018-7000:
This patent revolves around having the ADC on the second underneath layer and only the photodiodes on the top layer and eleviating cross talk between pixels. The underside layer is much larger than the sensor layer, whcih my assumption is that this lessons noise, heat and interferance between layers.
Stacked sensors can offer both dynamic range and noise benefits if done well, and also processing speed improvements. They can also offer other benefits such as global shutter and high speed video applications.
Canon News breaks down Japan Patent Application 2018-7101:
We have also discovered another stacked sensor patent application….. which deals with reducing the power consumption by a stacked sensor design.
As you can imagine, the more you stuff on the stacked sensor, the more power it consumes. Power is changed to waste heat. Heat is bad. Bad makes for bad sensors. :)
When we’ll see this sort of sensor appear in a Canon product is a mystery, but I think more obvious innovation in sensors is coming from Canon.
Just a heads up, we’ve created a Patent Board on the forum. Why I didn’t do this eons ago is a mystery.

Canon working on miniaturisation of shutter mechanism, patent application
canonIs there something coming from Canon, something small? After a patent application to improve the durability of a shutter mechanism, we also spotted a Canon patent application describing how to miniaturise the shutter mechanism.
Canon patent application P2018-010054A describes methods to further miniaturise the shutter mechanism:
The present invention relates to a blade drive device for driving blades entering and leaving an optical path, and an image pickup device including the blade drive device, for example, an IR (infrared light) cut filter and an AR (anti-reflection) A filter switching device for switching the filter, and a device incorporated in a lens barrel of a video camera or a surveillance camera equipped with such a filter switching device.

Canon working to improve durability of shutter mechanism, patent application suggests
canon patentCanon patent application JP-A-2018-10053 describes how to improve the durability of shutter blades.
Claims:
An opening forming member in which an opening serving as an optical path is formed, First and second shutter blades which enter and leave the opening, A drive transmission member engaged with the first and second shutter blades for transmitting a driving force, And a stopper for stopping the movement of the blade by abutment of the first and second shutter blades when the optical path is blocked by the first and second shutter blades in the opening,
Wherein the first and second shutter blades each include a shutter portion for shielding the optical path in the opening portion, an engaging portion for engaging with the drive transmission member, and a connecting portion for connecting the shutter portion and the engaging portion with each other Has,
Wherein the stopper includes a main stopper in which one side of the engaging portion side of the first and second shutter blades abuts and a second stopper provided between the opening and the drive transmission member and on one side of the connecting portion And a sub-stopper with which the portion abuts.
