Patent: Image Sensor Stabilization
Our previous post about what appeared to be image sensor stabilization in drawing from a lens stabilization patent proved to be false after further translation by Canon News.
캐논이센서손떨방을생각중인것으로보이는 특허라고하는데 물론 특허이긴하지만 캐논의일부바디가 타사보다는부족하지만 손떨방을갖고있으니 불가능한것은아니겠네요.
However, an image sensor stabilization patent was uncovered.
From Canon News:
This patent shows clearly that canon is finally looking at stablizing the sensor.
Part 402 in the diagram is to move the actual sensor as described in the corresponding notations;
401 calculates a target value of an amount of rotation drive of the imaging device on the basic of a roll correction angle. On the basis of the target value of the calcuated amount of shift drive and the target value of rotation drive, the driving mechanism unit 402 moves the imaging device, so that shake correction and tilt correction is performed.
We missed after publishing this patent, that Keith at Northlight also uncovered this patent.

Patent: Lens Image Stabilization Patent Shows Sensor Based Stabilization
Update: After further translation, the drawing likely shows the in camera level and orientation switch. However, a new patent uncovered does show sensor based image stabilization.
One thing this patent shows that’s interesting is what looks to be a 50mm HIS macro lens design.
Original Post: A USPTO patent for lens based image stabilization seems to show movement sensors inside the camera body suggesting sensor based stabilization.
While the patent doesn’t directly mention the sensor stabilization, the fact that it’s in the drawing is interesting.
